We visited Three Williams in Redfern for a business lunch and were keen to try their food after all the good things we’d heard about them. They are well known for their famous narnies which are basically naan fold-overs. The interior has very ambient lighting and industrial decor. Perfect for a quiet business meeting.
My colleagues tried the Duck Narnies and every one of them had only compliments. I decided to go for a vegetarian option and ordered the mushrooms.
Mushrooms consists of lemon and garlic sautéed wild mushrooms, mushroom and goats curd tapenade and a fried egg on sourdough topped with truffle oil, parsley, crushed hazelnuts and microgreens. Despite the simple name, this was an incredibly complex dish that balanced many different ingredients and components to create a medley of flavours in your mouth. The flavours that stood out were the sourness from the goats curd and the truffle. The soft textures of the mushroom and egg were well-balanced with the crunch of the hazelnuts.
This was a very enjoyable dish that was a surprisingly complex combination of very basic ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and we all concurred it was a good choice for lunch. I’ll definitely be back at Three Williams to try out more of their menu.
