Hand pulled noodles and dumplings are a winning combination, I think everyone can agree. Despite this, even we would have dismissed the handwritten signs and MS Paint-captioned pictures adorning the shopfront of Zhengzhou Hand Pulled Noodles & Dumplings in the food court of the Mandarin Centre in Chatswood, if it weren’t for their overly enthusiastic salesman.
Every dish they sell comes with a free Coles brand soft drink. First impressions of the Handmade Beef Noodle Soup with Beef Dumplings were alright. The noodles and dumplings did taste fresh however I can’t say there was anything particularly unique or striking about them. Something about the MSG-laden soup made these noodles junky but very addictive. The kind of food we hated ourselves for liking.
The Vegie Noodle Soup was also laden with MSG. There was a good amount of buk choy and egg in the noodle and the noodles had a good spring and consistency to them.
While the food wasn’t terrible, perhaps the reason we don’t find ourselves aching to go back to Zhengzhou Hand Pulled Noodles and Dumplings was because there was nothing memorable or special about the experience either. Kudos to the salesman who practically dragged us to the counter but convinced us to try the food anyway.
